So I was fortunate to get invited back to the Annual DFW EQL user group meeting in Arlington Texas.  Last year was my first event and it was fantastic.  I mean what is better than storage, baseball and technology all under the same roof.  Since previously living in the DFW area of Texas it was refreshing to return back to the area and get to meet and talk with storage and IT professionals from the area.  Last years event was fantastic and I knew this years was going to be a great event, but it was even better.

This year, as did last year, my co-worker Dennis traveled up from central Texas just as we did last year and worked our way into the Texas Rangers Ballpark via a quick elevator ride to arrive in the same room as before.  But this time the room had no chairs, but instead a few tables lining the walls.  This seemed odd to us, but as we stepped further into the room we realized that this was an area setup for partners to showcase products and services and the meeting would be held inside the Texas Rangers press room, WOW what a treat.  The room had very good seating and one of the largest projection screens I have seen.

We started off with some storage overviews which then led into some deeper conversations about the newer EqualLogic PS 4110 and PS 6110 arrays that had been release not that long ago.  Then we had presenters covering everything from basic 101 hardware and software features and function to services, integration, virtualization of tier 1 applications and keeping everything secure and protected.  At the conclusion of a very info pack afternoon we had a little time before the first pitch of that nights Rangers – Mariners game.  With the extra time we walked over to see the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium up close.  Lets just say that things are bigger in Texas and this was no exception.

We took a quick tour of the stadium visiting the field, locker rooms and private suite club area all before heading back over to watch the Rangers vs. Mariners game and enjoy great conversations with IT professionals from the area.  We had a great time and can not wait to do it again next year.  Thanks to all the DFW IT professionals that came out and see you next year.

I have posted more pictures from both the Rangers Ballpark and Dallas Cowboys Stadium on my photo page.

Until next time …
